Each Measure Feature: Mike Quintor
FEATURE
Crafting an album without skips is a difficult task. Inevitably, there will be stand-out tracks and others that fall to the wayside but if the album is well constructed, you won’t want to skip these “lesser” tracks. You will find yourself enjoying them in the grand scheme of the album itself. This is what makes an album without skips and that is a great album to listen to. And I have discovered the latest no skip album: Mike Quintor’s Trance.
Every song on this album feels fresh in a world of AI slop or just lazily produced tracks. Mike Quintor pieced this album together with surgical precision, infusing his own flair into every element. This lends to the unique sound of each track and what draws the listener in, making them want to hear the next track and keep the album on repeat. What really helps the tracks stand out amongst so many albums out there in the world of music is Mike Quintor’s vocals.
He carefully uses a voice filter over his tracks, creating a certain vibe to the album. It is a bit reminiscent of Porter Robinson in that regard. This signature vocal performance adds a dream-like vibe to the album which makes you feel like you are just drifting from track to track, enjoying each line and beat, leaving the worries of the world behind as you simply get lost in the music.
As you find yourself slowly getting lost in the music, you will start to pick up on the lyrics, noting how Mike Quintor covers everything from love, life, and opportunity across the twenty tracks. He included a little bit of everything in this album which, once again, makes it an album without skips. It’s easy listening and an album that I will happily get lost in again and again.
