FEATURE

The tight-knit trio, WESLYNN, released their boppy single just in time for the summer season. “Love and Let Go,” released on May 9th, 2025, is a catchy ditty that had me bopping my head within the first couple of seconds. Founded in 2013, WESLYNN isn’t new to the scene. They’ve been making music and playing for faithful crowds in their hometown and beyond throughout the last decade. Their previous releases include a myriad of singles like “Strangers” in 2019 or “Consuming Fire” in 2024. They’ve also released two EPs, Black + Champagne in 2016 and “Dark Days” in 2014.

“Love and Let Go” is fueled by 80s-inspired sounds and influences like Bruce Springsteen and Peter Gabriel. Recorded with vintage equipment and an intent of creating a 1980s aesthetic, the single shines through with a lovely modern-but-vintage touch. It is a nostalgic ode to a golden age of music. While it can be difficult to create this style without copycatting, WESLYNN does it effortlessly. “Love and Let Go” is an anthem to all of us humans that tend to have a death grip on things that no longer serve our goals. “Don’t hold on to empty things; your heart won’t lie when it’s time to leave”—what a line to live by!

This song is so versatile, it could fit in a summer lake day playlist just as easily as a hype-up road trip set. “Love and Let Go” is a song you can’t help but dance to; turn the volume up for full appreciation! This Phoenix-based three-piece is reviving a sound that is fresh to the ear and fun for crowds. I am looking forward to delving further into their history and what melodies are to come from them in the future. Weslynn has certainly caught my attention!
