Each Measure Feature: Rokeby

FEATURE

Rokeby, in collaboration with producer Tom Fuller (known for his work with artists like Tom Walker and Patrick Wolf), brings forth an upcoming EP filled with personal narratives and genuine emotion. Inspired mostly by great storytellers such as Kate Bush and artists like Hozier who are able to bring souls to life with their voices, Rokeby writes music for people who genuinely connect with it. Profound piano melodies complement carefully constructed lyrics and soulful harmonies, followed by harmonies that sound more like a church choir. In each tune, inspired by genuine occurrences, people, and feelings, Rokeby translated heartfelt honesty and passion into the best possible path and interpretation to touch the listener more.

Rokeby’s version of Haddaway’s “What Is Love” provides a more thought-provoking and unique standpoint on this well-known song. Fuller, the producer, utilizes the minor key to enhance and convey a tragic and forlorn feel to the song, which was a masterpiece of excitement and exhilaration. Through gripping vocals and piano keys, Rokeby expresses the emotion of desiring and questioning in a manner that is beyond moving. This alternative version of the song is a foretaste of the full-length EP, and it undoubtedly showcases what is in store for us on the horizon.
