Each Measure Feature: Rapboijones
FEATURE
Creating a cohesive album is always a tough gig. You’ll have your hot singles to sell it, sure, but the problem lies in having the rest of the album match this quality. This is why there are so many albums out there with no one listening to the full thing; there’s no consistency. There are a few tracks that we want to listen to but the rest? Filler. This is not the case with Rapboijones and his latest album Pray for Diamonds. Every track on this album is consistent in delivering quality with every verse.
Each track tells a story about life or talks on a universal theme like rising up from the ashes. This makes every song feel personal, helping the album come alive musically. It's obvious that Rapboijones is here to push the social envelope and have real meaning to his songs, aspects that I greatly appreciated. His lyrics made me reflect on my own life and wonder about what all has happened to bring me to this spot and for me. This type of connection to a song reminds me of why music is the universal language and how great a good album is.
Moving on from the lyrics and overall theme, the production across the album is jaw dropping. Beats are unique featuring a wide rarity of drums and instruments. In a world of generic drum tracks from Garageband, this album seeks originality setting it far apart from others in the scene. Each track has its own musical identity, the album featuring slower and faster paced songs, but they all fit together like a puzzle.
Rapboijones outdid himself with this album and I for one will be throwing it on shuffle and repeat for a good while.
