“Haters Pressed” by Nuk is a gritty, in-your-face rap song that has got me hooked. In my opinion, it’s the perfect song to get you through the most brutal workout. The beat is created with a blend of heavy and delicate instruments creating a dynamic sound. While there is the constant presence of heavy 808’s throughout the song, there is a fantastic string section in the background alongside a piano to create balance. Yet the piano isn’t all about playing softly. Occasionally the piano plays these heavy, banged out chords that accompany the 808’s perfectly. This makes the track hype from beginning to end. It’s a bold beat designed perfectly to back-up the strong lyrics and theme of the song.
Nuk’s lyrics center around the theme of resilience. One of my favorite lines that conveys this is “That was a minor set-back for a major come-back”. Nuk conveys the message strongly to all of those that have questioned him or his legacy, reminding us all who he is and what he stands for. It’s a powerful message and one that speaks of his boldness and confidence. This combined with the strong beat make this a powerful song for the summer.
Nuk is an up and coming hip-hop artist from Delaware County, PA. He has been writing and performing songs ever since he was nine years old. This dedication to music is evident in the songs that he crafts. Through his lyrics and production, Nuk constructs honest, raw songs about the life that he knows. To me, this will always make a great song and it’s yet another reason to keep Nuk on your radar for his next projects!
