Each Measure Feature: Laughing Cats

FEATURE

Love is certainly on fire in this club-ready single by Laughing Cats. The indie pop duo, Lauren Schiff (actress and NYU MFA grad) and Tony Fredianelli (former Third Eye Blind member), took an idea and made it a catchy, bopping summer jam. The energy is hard to deny or avoid moving your body to. Influences like Lady Gaga, Donna Summer, and LMFAO are evident on this track. Released on April 25th, 2025, “Love on Fire” is ready to become a summer anthem in clubs all over the world.

“Love On Fire” is a sexy ode to any newly forming relationship. Think rushing chemicals and uncontrollable desires meeting flashy lights of a dance floor. Opening with “This love is a sin, sin, sin. Dripping off the kiss on my lips.” The lyrics undoubtedly point to the love being forbidden in a way or, perhaps, attempting to be denied. How else does one explain such a burning curiosity and ache for another: “This love is on fire!”

“This love is a misfit tryst, and I’m locked in your method of madness” is my favorite lyric on the track. The delivery of “Misfit Tryst” is perfect. Schiff’s voice is powerful and unapologetic in her portrayal of mutual love interest. She means it. “Love on Fire” is the third track to roll out from Laughing Cats upcoming album, “Funny Money.” Following “Jerk” and “GYB,” “Love on Fire” adds another unique layer to this fun, poppy album. In addition, the music video for “Love on Fire” adds even more spark to the song as you’re listening. I’m looking forward to hearing the upcoming album in its entirety and hitting the dance floor!
