Each Measure Feature: INDOLORE
FEATURE
The easy-flowing melody and perfect mix of Indolore’s “Terry” is both a beautiful winding melody and a return to the special storytelling power that only music can preserve. The latest indie folk single, recorded in early 2025 and released only recently in March of 2026, is a remembrance of the late Terry Reid.
To a laid-back rhythm and easygoing keys, the lyrics of this song immediately make it clear that there is a special story to tell. “Glastonbury Fayre, magic in the air…” sets the scene for Indolore to unfold precious memories of Terry Reid, from a voice that “pierces stone” to his recurring kingly status amongst his friends and admirers. The specificity of writing brings a personal vulnerability fitting to the intimate studio feel of the mix. Indolore (or Guillaume Simon) doesn’t shy away from bringing the feels with the sweet confidence of "I love you” to the easter egg lyrical reference to one of Reid’s own hits.
But who is this Guillaume Simon? A French musician with deep Irish roots, likened to Elliot Smith and Nick Drake in mention, but with a solo touring history of his own with credits in Paris, New York, and Austin. Indolore exudes a quiet grace reflected in his steady and soothing vocals. Past releases have gained considerable attention with At the Barrier's Album of the Year (2021) and added to Rolling Stone's playlist of 2023. This latest French EP, La Vie Face A, was released in the autumn of 2025.
“Terry” is the first release of 2026, the year after the passing of its inspiration. Reid himself was, fortunately, able to hear Simon’s track with admiration. A beautiful detail is that this song was written before Reid's declining health, the lyrics written without any motivation other than to honor and preserve a dear friendship. It was only later that it transformed into a tribute of sorts, a vessel for remembrance that caught the attention of Reid’s fellow peers, including Graham Nash.
As a single, “Terry” more than delivers in its faint melancholic charm and perfectly balanced mix. But this single stands out as more than just a great tune but also a beautiful homage that continues and honors the work of a fellow musician. Being very honest, before Indolores’ single, I did not know who Terry Reid was…and here I am an hour later getting lost in Reid’s sonic universe of gentle warbling vocals and timbrous basslines. With this single Indolore remembers one of the primal seeds of music: that it dives deeper than expressing oneself and . While I’m still new to understanding him, I’m sure Terry Reid would have a smile to share about it.
“What a wonderful song in tribute of my dear friend Terry Reid.” Graham Nash (two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee).
