Each Measure Feature: Blind Man's Daughter

FEATURE

Blind Man’s Daughter’s latest release, “Harbor Boulevard,” is the perfect love letter to a father. The song talks about all of the great thanks a father can do for their child. This is accomplished through powerful, emotionally charged lyrics written by Ashley Wolfe.

Some of my favorite lines from the song are “you gave me grace when I fell down” and “you dared to give me roots.” You can almost feel the love that Ashley Wolfe has for her dad in this song, which makes it all the better. Even so, Ashley Wolfe’s musical talents go beyond her stellar lyricism — she also produced the song!

This, I think, is what makes this song feel powerful. Ashley has a deep connection to the subject material, and that comes through every note, rhythm, and verse. Be prepared for this track to take you down a nostalgic road as you think about your own parents.

Musically, I love the acoustic guitar and piano combo. Their melody brings a moving warmth to the song that is furthered by the rock-inspired drumming pattern. As the song progresses, the melody is passed on to an electric guitar, adding excellent depth to the piece. Overall, it’s an incredibly catchy track that matches the overall theme of the lyrics wonderfully.

All of this works together to create a lesson for the listener. Yes, it is sad to think that our past can’t be repeated, but this is not the focus. We need to find joy in having the experience, taking the time to be thankful for it all.

“Harbor Boulevard” stands as a testament to the cinematic sound Blind Man’s Daughter consistently produces and gives proper evidence as to why they are a rising star on the music scene.
