Heartbreak is a painful, universal experience. While some of us respond to it by gorging ourselves on ice cream and comfort movies, BEKA BARZ manages to turn her heartbreak into a great break-up anthem. Her song “Wannabe” tells the story of not only heartbreak but betrayal of the highest degree. She opens the track with a bang:

“If you wanna be my lover then don't get with my friends.”

Not only is this a great nod to the Spice Girls, but it also sets the tone for the entire song.

As the track progresses, we learn more about how it all went down. You truly get a sense of the pain and hurt BEKA experienced in this moment of her life. But she doesn't let that pain keep her down. She realizes she’s better off without him, ending the final verse with the powerful lines:

“I won't ever take you back, not even in your dreams.”

It’s this lyrical storytelling that gives the song its emotional weight. For me, that’s what makes the track stand out. Of course, the fantastic beats accompany all of this, creating a truly great song.

But BEKA BARZ doesn’t stop at writing and producing her own music. She also created the wonderful music video alongside her wife. The video is beautifully shot, bringing the story to life with compelling visuals that provide further insight into the narrative of “Wannabe.”

If this song is any indication, BEKA BARZ has a bright future in the music industry. I for one am looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next for this project.
